ryan, there's watch-movies.net if you want to see something in theaters now.
there's also this new embedded site that has a few rotating documentaries up, which is snagfilms.com
as for netflix, the jonestown massacre one that's in their recommended section is pretty great.

I made sort of the same mistake in my Netflix thread (que) and everyone lambasted me for it. So:

Ah. Most of the others are older great foreign films.
In the theaters, I have no idea. I just watch online these days unless there's something I really really want to see.
Videology's site (videology.info) has a listing of the latest releases in date format. You can work your way backwards from there, like I use to do, if that helps(?).

the counterfeiters was pretty interesting, berlin in the 20s was fucking dope.
i enjoyed the bands visit as well.
persepolis is supposed to be good...?
nothing to recent is coming to mind, i like all those bro comedies Step Brothers, Role Models, Pineapple Express, Sarah Marshall. but im easy to pelase.

jordivision posted this on January 9th, 2009 @ 11:29:04 pm» quote
- whoa. they made a movie of the counterfeiters by andre gide????
-
Killick posted this on January 9th, 2009 @ 11:29:58 pm» quote
- Role Models, yeah I heard that one was pretty funny too actually. There are a lot of movies that I think "oh that might be good but I'll wait for it to be released on DVD" and then never remember what the fuck it was. Those are the movies I'm looking for. That newish Coen Bros movie is an example.

Add these to yr. netflix (not really new releases)
Street Trash (shot in Gpoint and Williamsburgh) about a licker store that sells this green booze he finds in the basement to bums....and it makes them melt. Great bad movie.
Get a season or two of Trailer Park Boys (seasons 3-6 are the best)
Bigger Stronger Faster: great doc on roids.
The Great World of Sound, cool indie movie about song sharks.
The Duelists: fucking AMAZING period movie by Ridley Scott (I think it was his first) Harvey Keitel and Keith Carradine are officers in Napoleons army. Carradine is sent to arrest Keitel who is a fucking nut job and challenges him to a duel. Their grudge goes on for decades as they fight a series of duels while at war.

watch confessions of a superhero. Doc chronicling the superheros on Hollywood Boulevard. And you can watch it instantly on Netflix.
Not on video yet, but one of my favorite movies this year was JCVD. A combination of Dog Day Afternoon and Being John Malkovich. Starring Jean Cleaude Van Damme (and he's actually really good). You can download a torrent for it with relative ease, make sure you get one that includes a subtitle file.

hahah nahhh.
But basically we would take anybody on (generally start ups or up and coming artist not to defraud them or steal their work but mostly to build up our roster and beef up our bottom line) cheaply, quickly, and in great quantities.
We def had a "sucker list" although we didnt call it that.
I just remember getting pep talks similar to the ones given in that movie, i was a total n00b and didnt know any better, obviously I bailed once I realized these guys were total scumbags and were in over their head.
It was a good time though, talked a lot of shit, made a TON of moves, got some great insider experience and a crash course on how to fuck up your company and its brand.
But yeah that movie was very reminiscent to that establishment and made me very uneasy.

yah city of men is great. same premise as city of god.
elite squad is more of a straight action movie. i think it was the top grossing film in brazil in 2007 or some shit. its set in the same places as city of god/men, the ghettos in rio. the elite squad is the elite unit of cops who really fight crime. it tells the story of one man hoping to join this unit, while its leader is lookin to retire. great flick.

Diving Bell and the Butterfly
might I suggest setting up the netflix new release rss feed in your rss reader:
http://rss.netflix.com/NewReleasesRSS
every sunday or monday you'll get all the dvd's releasing that week. go through and add the ones you want to your Q.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rss
think of it like your mail program (if you use one). like outlook or mail. except instead of downloading emails you're downloading updates to a website. in this case Netflix updates their list of new releases every week as discs are released weekly.

Do you use gmail? If so i just use google reader. www.google.com/reader
sign in there. copy this: http://rss.netflix.com/NewReleasesRSS ahead of time. when you're in google.com/reader there is a "add supscription" button. press that and paste the rss link you want to add. done.

- this may change your life. if you get your news via internet i highly recommend going through rss. for instance i read the ny times. so i set up my rss feeds only for the sections i want to read: arts, opinion, most emailed, theatre etc etc. much better than just navigating the ny times website.

matter of opinion.
well, yeah. but yours is wrong.
Wall-E was great but if you are into something more light-hearted then Ratatouille was better. Good thing movie are subjective eh?
P.S. I HATED "I Am Legend" but it was cool how they made NYC look like an abandoned waste land.

""The film's producers and sound people wanted the creatures in the movie to sound somewhat human, but not the standard," so Mike Patton, lead singer of Faith No More, was engaged to provide the screams and howls of the infected.[38]"
